The Maple House is a shop offering beautiful, heirloom quality home decor, antiques and so much more! We are a family run shop that began very small in 2013. Fall of 2023, we opened our physical brick and mortar right in the heart of downtown Historic Snohomish, Washington. All of our products reflect the lifestyle that we so love, each piece quality, beautifully made and intended for the well collected home.

Inspired by warmth. Embracing mixed patterns, with complementary rich tones, thoughtfully collected antiques, nostalgic & uplifting scents, and a variety of layered textures. I’m discovering a new sense of creativity in this season of life. Recognizing how easy it is to be held back in design, allowing myself to let go of some of the rules and expectations, perhaps ones I’ve laid on myself… this is the beginning of me exploring and having a little more fun with this! Even more fun to come! Some items were previously sold, brought in to show you what can be done with similar objects, and an idea of the antiques we do carry. ✨✨✨

On the mornings I find myself up before 4am, I often gather the sense that I need to write something. When there is a creative block, or things to sort out, or life is just plain busy, a quiet morning tends to be the place for me. 🕯️☕️ Sometimes, you just need to simply sit with whatever it is you need to sit with, coffee in hand, in the dark, for however long, in the quiet, waiting. Staring into the deep black fog, noticing the first light beginning to pierce through. And soon enough, hope begins to well up as you remember that indeed the sun will rise, and you will see everything clearly. Along with these feelings, the gentle reminder that life can be truly beautiful, people are generally really pleasant to have around, you have purpose, and where you find yourself, sitting with whatever it is you must sit with, somehow this is beautiful too in its own way, even in the brokenness. And as the sun begins to rise, I find myself mesmerized by the feeling that light brings hope, which cannot be contained by the darkness. 🌞✨

As January is coming to an end, I find myself finally ready to lay out my thoughts on the new year. At the start of every year, I often find myself resonating with a word, that I carry with me throughout that new year. This year, my word is “better”. I have been on a health journey as of more recently that has me recognizing many areas of my life that needed to be better. Not better in the sense that I need to try harder (because God and everyone in my life knows, I push myself), but better in the sense that it CAN be (doesn’t have to remain the same or stuck). Since having my daughter in 2020, I have experienced a whole new body, whole new mind, and whole new life. A life filled with color, but also leaving me a little unsure of who the woman is staring back at me in the mirror. The last several months, I have felt the urge to rediscover who that woman is, through healing myself, in order to get back to what is left behind what isn’t really me. I’m learning that there’s parts of me before becoming a mom that I don’t want to go back to, and there’s parts that I am getting back to, only better this time. So much of healing is the opposite of what I think it should be. It’s slowing down, not being hard on myself, listening to my body’s needs, remembering what safety feels like, resting. My life growing up was very difficult, and as a mom and grown woman in her thirties, I am still gathering lessons and healing from old traumas. It’s not an easy journey, but it’s a good lasting one, that plants some serious rare beautiful seeds in the tired old ground. My daughter will get to see those seeds bloom into something I only ever dreamed of. Loving people often feels like a lonely road, but it’s not as it seems. I keep saying, “I want to live with a pulse, and I am drawn to people with a pulse”. What I really mean is, “I want to live, for real, and love, authentically, and be the things I always craved to see in the world as a little girl. And I want to recognize the people who need it too.” So my body has been healing, I am seeing physical changes, mental and emotional changes. Though I know it’s a journey, and journeys have ups and downs, but I am heading there. 🤍
