We have never before documented our renovation projects in this way. Sharing the messy in between as we await the big transformative reveal. It feels real and raw, authentic, and very much like life.
(we were so excited to find the original wood floors throughout, we were able to sand down years of filth and will be keeping this raw look with a light water base finish - which feels very European to me)
A work in progress, making way on the path towards all we have envisioned for this space. It has been a collective effort, with help from friends and family. We surely could not do this without them.
(the ceiling is getting covered in bead board which is sure to be a major transformation... don't worry, everything has been properly tested - no asbestos in the ceiling or floors - can I get a hallelujah?!)
The shop has received a beautiful paint job on about 80% of the building thus far. We went with a creamy happy white, "Paper White" by Sherwin Williams. We kept some of the original black details on the building for a contrast, with a special surprising new accent color on the front door.
Our dream for this shop is to be a happy welcoming place. With the idea of embracing this old world lifestyle we all so love, and welcoming the idea of breathing new life into this old building, we want our visitors to discover something that feels so familiar and yet inspiring them to dream big. Our vision is to allow our customers to feel like they are stepping into something special, as much as they have felt at the barn. For the door, we chose an uplifting Frenchy green. Photos do not do it justice, but I encourage you to drive by the shop and take a look - you shouldn't miss it!
(front door color is Jadite by Sherwin Williams, we will also change out the door sweep for brass)
Eloise has been along for the ride during this whole process. Thankfully she is such a great sport and loves dancing around the shop while we work. She is becoming very familiar with it and is just as excited as we are to welcome our first brick & mortar shoppers come September!
We do hope to open the doors early September for a soft opening, however you will want to save the date for our Grand Opening which will be September 16th 2023! This will be a special event in which we will be offering nibbles, drinks, and our friends The Antique Flower Truck will be parked outside with fresh blooms available for purchase! This is sure to be an epic event as we have long awaited this moment for The Maple House Co! We do hope to see many of your smiling faces as you cheer us on (as you always do) in this new endeavor! Stay tuned for our Grand Opening event details coming soon!
(we are using vintage style milk-glass schoolhouse pendants with a brass finish throughout - which will pair nicely with the bead board ceiling, and hopefully make our customers feel as though they are stepping back in time... which this historic town does so beautifully)
Don't want to miss out on all the updates and news about all shop happenings, be sure to join our mailing list to be in the know!
(pretty zinnias, dahlias, and cosmos harvested from our garden in one of our clay bud vases, as a gift for a friend who has been helping us with this project)
More exciting updates to come!
